As of September 2026, the Quebec, Ontarian and Canadian fencing federations will each require the use of the appropriate pants. Left-handed fencers need to wear left-handed pants, and right-handed fencers need to wear right-handed pants.
Please note, this rule is currently enforced by the USA fencing federation for all tournaments within the USA.
To tell right-handed pants apart from left-handed ones, look at the back pocket. The pocket should be on the opposite side of your weapon arm (left-handed have a pocket on the right side).
